Chris Gillis Design launches Capeshare iPhone App New App delivers Cape Cod-specific content

Aug. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Harwich, MA, August 5, 2013 — A local web and mobile app design firm -- Chris Gillis Design -- today launched a new iPhone application called ‘Capeshare’ to “help visitors to Cape Cod have a more enjoyable experience through access to a wide range of helpful content on their phones” according to principal architect of the app, Chris Gillis.

The inspiration for the app came from a simple brainstorming session between Gillis and his product manager, Jessica Pettigrew.

“We were discussing how lucky we are to be working in such a beautiful place with an overwhelming number of choices we have on a daily basis of things to do. So, if you’re a visitor, you’re likely even more overwhelmed by those choices – if you even know they exist,” said Pettigrew.

“Print media do a good job of marketing the Cape as do the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and local town chambers, but they can’t deliver instant information to potential visitors anywhere in the world via a mobile platform. It’s a fact that more and more people rely on information accessed on their phones for decision making. So we thought if we’re doing mobile apps. for clients, doesn’t it make sense to do this for ourselves and our community,” Pettigrew added.

“One thing led to another from that point on and we started developing the app from our own Cape knowledge and that of friends, relatives and business acquaintances,” Gillis said.

The technical build was fairly straightforward. Working on the project as time allowed, approximately six months after the original brainstorming session, Capeshare was approved by Apple for release.

The new handheld guide to the Cape features tips on Dining, Beaches, Outdoor Activities, Arts and Culture, Food Shopping by town as well as things to do on a rainy day.

“If you want to find where to get the best seafood in Wellfleet, for example, we have you covered,” Pettigrew said. “You can also create a custom itinerary of places and map out the locations in advance of your trip or you can wait until you’re here. It’s fast and easy to create” she added.

“Our content delivers a complete spectrum of choices and price ranges. However, our focus is primarily on quality local businesses in each town. We’re confident that this app will benefit not just new tourists, but also seasoned visitors, second homeowners and locals alike. The design and user experience of Capeshare has been well thought out to make it very easy to use this new form of travel guide,” Gillis added.
