Chevrolet Impala Lands at the Top of Consumer Reports’ List of Sedans

ELBURN, Ill. - Aug. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- For the first time in 20 years, Consumer Reports has named an American sedan as the top of its class. The 2014 Chevrolet Impala earned Consumer Reports’ top score, placing it above vehicles from Germany and Japan. The latest Impala scored a 95 out of 100 possible points to receive an “Excellent” rating on the magazine’s testing. This signifies a complete turnaround for Chevy’s flagship sedan. Its score of 95 was 32 points higher than the previous edition, which was considered noisy and is more commonly found in rental car parking lots than in family driveways or garages. It also scored better than luxury sedans such as the Audi A6 and Lexus 460L. The new Impala earned its rating based on its ride, handling, high-quality of materials used, and spacious interior.

The easy and simple to use interior controls helped make the 2014 Impala stand out. The controls, along with its electronics, aren’t complicated, which has caused other luxury sedan models such as the Cadillac XTS to have lower scores.

The last redesign the Impala saw was back in 2005. This a major upgrade in 2014, which was powered by a V6 engine that was slower than some four-cylinder vehicles.

Jake Fisher, Chief Auto Tester at Consumer Reports, said that the latest version of the Impala offers owners plenty of room and delivers a ride quieter than many luxury sedans.

At the National Impala’s Association annual convention in Spearfish, South Dakota, the newest Impala was all anybody could talk about. The club’s president, Mike Berry, said that everybody was “just blown away” by the 2014 edition and that he’ll buy one as his next car.
