Tindie Launches Platform for the Hardware Revolution

Tindie partners with Arduino and 256 other hardware businesses
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Aug. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- San Francisco, CA, August 1, 2013 – Tindie has launched Tindie Kickbacks, the first platform connecting hardware designers and makers with manufacturers from around the world.

The new platform enables designers and makers to share finished designs from anywhere on the web. Businesses can then manufacture the design as is or create products derived from the original design. Once market-ready, the products will be listed in Tindie’s Store, and can include a portion of sales back to the designer.

In launching Kickbacks, Arduino has joined Tindie allowing manufacturers to contribute a portion of their sales back to Arduino, one of the world’s largest open hardware platforms. Currently Tindie has over 100 products built on top of Arduino – ranging from the highly successful Kickstarter project, Digispark, to GAMBY, an Arduino Retro Gaming Shield.

“Tindie is the leading marketplace for the hardware revolution. With Tindie Kickbacks, we are expanding that lead to connect even more designers & makers with even more manufacturers,” said Emile Petrone, CEO of Tindie.

Jayson Tautic, CEO of TAUTIC Electronics and current Tindie seller, commented, “Tindie can help with one of the biggest questions around open source hardware (OSHW). Where are its origins? Who forked it? Show me the product and all of its iterations.”

The Tindie Store is the largest marketplace for maker-designed electronics. With customers from over 63 countries, Tindie has gained a global reach in only 12 months. Tindie caters to all areas of the hardware revolution from MakerBot accessories to Raspberry Pi components.
