LACONIA, N.H. - July 30, 2013 - PRLog -- August Events and Deals in NH’s Lakes Region

Lakes Region, NH – While the weather is often beautiful during September and October, many consider August as the last month of real summer weather before the temperatures start to cool. And while the Lakes Region of New Hampshire is beautiful to visit any time of year, a swim in one of the region’s 273 lakes and ponds during chilly October probably won’t have the same effect as it would during the lazy summer month of August.

While visiting the Lakes Region, travelers can take advantage of special rates and deals being offered by area lodging properties. During August, the Riverbend Inn in Chocorua is offering a romantic getaway package; the Follansbee Inn in North Sutton will be welcoming guests for a yoga retreat on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th; and the Lighthouse Inn B&B in Laconia has a Golf and Stay package. Even without a special deal involved, however, there is much value to be had in a Lakes Region vacation, and many mid-week stays offered by area lodging properties are bargains. A full list of travel packages and lodging options can be found on the Lakes Region Tourism Association website.

Here are a few of the highly anticipated events going on in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire this August:

• The Soulfest at Gunstock Mountain Resort in Gilford, NH. July 31-August 3. A Christian music festival featuring both national and local artists.

• 21st Pemi Valley Bluegrass Festival at the Sugar Shack Campground in Thornton. August 1-4. Four days of bluegrass with a free kids’ academy Friday-Sunday.

• Hot Dog Festival at Loon Mountain Resort in Lincoln, NH. August 3. A mind-blowing array of hot dogs and toppings.

• 80th Annual League of NH Craftsmen’s Fair at Mount Sunapee Resort in Newbury, NH. August 3-11. Crafts, demonstrations, do-it-yourself workshops, and entertainment.

• Shooting Stars in the Sky Cruise on the MS Mount Washington. August 9. The McAuliffe and Sheppard Discovery Center will be on board to enlighten guests on the science behind the meteor shower happening in the sky.
