Presently, there are two counseling jobs available for eligible candidates – Behavioral assistant and the intensive in community counselor. The minimum requirements for the Behavioral assistant include a bachelors’
degree in psychology, social work or related field, 2 years of relevant direct service experience, experience working with youth experiencing behavioral or emotional challenges, previous working experience with confidential information and preferably strong technological skills. Similarly requirements for the intensive in community counselor position are all of the above and a Master’
s degree in counseling along with a State issues clinical licensure.
The tasks and responsibilities of the behavioral assistant position include: modeling and implementing treatment interventions set by IIC (Intensive in Community Counselor) as mentioned in the treatment plan, support school personnel, case managers and family’
s efforts to stabilize the child or adolescent, develop progress notes describing each client contact and how those are related to treatment goals. Other responsibilities include collaborating with other members of the treatment team as well as other professionals working in the home or in other community settings and participating in Inter-agency or team meetings when required and lastly attending supervision and New Jersey mandated Behavioral Assistant trainings when required.
The intensive in community counselors develop and implement the treatment plans/ youth service plans and supervise the overall service delivery. Other responsibilities include those mentioned above.
Candidates applying for either one of the available positions must remember this is a part time fee-for-service position. Simultaneously it is also preferable that clinicians maintain caseloads of minimum 5 referrals with each generally authorized for two hours per week.
