Some activities include Bird Watching walk with North Shore Audubon Society, butterfly garden tour, wildflower walk, beach exploration, LIVE animal show with Tackapausha Museum, nature craft, nature film, rock and mineral identification, face painting in the Woodland Village and Nassau Mineral Club Open House. Garvies Point Museum and Preserve offers 62 acres of glacial moraine covered by woodlands, thickets, and ponds with a 2,000 foot shoreline along Hempstead Harbor. Enjoy our Museum's exhibits dedicated to Long Island and New York State regional geology, the science of archaeology and prehistoric Long Island Native American Indians. The museum is open year round, offering educational museum school programs to the people of Long Island and the metro area. We offer 14 different educational programs related to outdoor education, Native American history, culture, technology, archaeology, geology, and paleontology. Programs are available to more than just schools, we also welcome scout groups, science clubs, adult group, pritvate schools, home schools, summer camps, and whomever else! The Friends of Garvies Point Museum and Preserve is the major support group for the museum.
