Valerie Fahren Music Industry Showcase Attracts Key Industry Professionals to Talent Judging Panel

Jeff Sosnow, Peter Cohen, Scott Marcus, Danny DC Carter, Michael Jay, Joel Diamond, Rod Kukla and other industry veterans, help prepare performers for the challenges of popular television shows like American Idol, The Voice and America's Got Talent.

BURBANK, Calif. - July 28, 2013 - PRLog -- The challenges of today's music industry have never been greater. And it follows that the challenges of today's aspiring music artists are that much tougher. That's where celebrity vocal coach and artist development specialist Valerie Fahren enters the scene, creating what is arguably the hottest music industry showcase for rising talent in the greater Los Angeles area.

Since 1995, Valerie Fahren has presented her music industry showcases to appreciative audiences three times a year at the prestigious Celebrity Centre Garden Pavilion in Hollywood, California. But after seeing how television competions like American Idol had taken the country by storm and made virtual unknowns into stars almost overnight, she decided to add a similar element to her shows.

To prepare for the reality of what artists are likely to face as they move up the ladder in their careers, Valerie instituted a rotating panel of top industry veterans to act as judges including: Senior VP of Warner Bros Records, Jeff Sosnow; the main casting producer for "The Voice," Peter Cohen; Creative Dir A&R Island Def Jam. Scott Marcus; Danny DC Carter, Interscope Records A&R; Grammy Award winning songwriter and producer, Michael Jay; Multi-Platinum-winning record producer and manager, Joel Diamond; Senior Director of A & R for Mascot Label Group, Rod Kukla; former president of Peer Music Group, Frank Petrone and many more.

These judges sit at a long table in the front row of the "industry section" of the audience, however, their role is a bit different than the way judging is usually presented on prime-time television.

"It's important to have honest judging and evaluation for new artists, if they are to isolate the good and improve the areas that need attention," notes Ms. Fahren. "But we didn't want the judging to take over and break the flow of the show."

Instead, after an initial introduction of each judge and a question to each as to what they are looking for when scouting new talent, the judges watch the show like everyone else in the audience, and take notes to be reviewed later by Valerie and her students, one-on-one.

Valerie adds,"Each live industry showcase is a very positive experience for our voice students and artist development clients, and we get crucial feedback from the judges as to what might be the difference in breaking through to the next level. Our young talent gets better, faster, and by the time of the next showcase, there is noticable improvement that even some of the returning judges are quick to mention."

With so much personal attention directed toward her students and artist development clients, Valerie limits her roster to a select group. But as students like Lynsey Bartilson (star on the hit TV series “Grounded for Life”), Bosko Kante (record producer/singer, credits include recordings with Kanye West, Tupac), Sabrina Bryan (Disney's 'Cheetah Girls' and popular celebrity contestant from ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars'), Alison Sudol (recording artist - A Fine Frenzy), Juliette Lewis (feature film actress and lead singer with “Juliette and the Licks”) and Damien Perkins (played the lead in “Aida” on Broadway) leave the Fahren fold, new hopefuls step in to take their place.

Valerie concludes, "Taking on a new student artist is both exciting and a challenge. Each of us needs to focus and work hard toward achieving the ultimate goal: someone who can take the stage and communicate using all of their talents and skills, and leave the fans clamoring for more. That's what music is all about."
