Let Them Play! Instrument Donation A Success at Sunrise Day Camp
Terra Rising Records launches Beat Teams by helping summer camp exclusively for kids with cancer and their siblings.
Music Therapist Heaver Becvar, co-organizer of Beat Teams at Sunrise Day Camp, is excited to see the instrument donations help the music program grow and give opportunities to kids not only in this year's camp, but for campers in the years to come.
"It has been a pleasure and an honor to meet and work with Mike Ricucci of Terra Rising Records and Beat Teams! The children at Sunrise Day Camp displayed true joy and excitement when Mike presented the entire camp with new and exciting instruments such as: electric guitars, drum sets, xylophones and more! The children chanting his name could be heard echoing throughout the campgrounds;
Becvar expounded on the opportunities that music instruments bring to a camp like Sunrise, "The Music Therapy program at Sunrise Day Camp has been in desperate need of new music facilities, musical instruments and supplies in order to properly facilitate music therapy interventions and activities that fit the needs of all age groups at Sunrise Day Camp, from ages 3 1/2-16. Everyone involved in Beat Teams has blessed us tremendously with their generosity in helping us provide music therapy and music enrichment in these children's lives. Mike and his team gave us a huge boost by providing us with musical instruments that will be a part of the Sunrise Day Camp music program for many, many years to come!"
Ricucci looks forward to building an even bigger relationship with Sunrise Day Camp as well as bringing Beat Teams to towns across the country through the Universal MusiCARE live concert series that Terra Rising produces to serve as instrument donation points while they travel.
"This is only the beginning! Terra Rising wants to give Sunrise the ability to grow musically and that will only come with a continued effored of bringing advocacy and awarness to local communities throughout the country" said Terra Rising's founder.
"Terra Rising believes in creating solutions that are permanant and can provide foundations to grow from, for all people. It was a privelege to spend an entire day at Sunrise Day Camp and to see athletics, music, photography, art, dance, theater, nature, and more provided to children as choices they could make, allowing them to be their own naviagators on their personal summer journey. It was like every summer camp I ever wished I could have gone to," reflected Ricucci.
He continued, "Beat Teams chapters have now formed in Atlanta, Knoxville, Washington DC, New York, Seattle, Sacramento, and Los Angeles through music therapists, music educators and indpendent musicians. We are adding new cities every week and look forward to hosting our Universal MusiCARE live concert series in these cities on our 4 month tour this fall and winter!"
Beat Teams is a nationwide instrument donation program created by Terra Rising Record's founder Mike Ricucci. Terra Rising Records, in conjunction with director Pierre Walters of Blue Artists, is currently filming "Universal MusiCARE: The Music Therapy Experience," a feature length documentary focusing on the science and personal interactions of music therapy. Terra Rising is also filming a second documentary "From The Ground UP," highlighting the struggles, sacrifices and successes of trying to make your dream a reality through music and film. "Universal MusiCARE," is the live concert series produced by Terra Rising to raise money and awarness for music education and music therapy.
