BOCA RATON, Fla. - July 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Howard Helfant, (http://www.howardhelfant.com) Boca Raton's very well known business entrepreneur  always has a special way to kickoff a special event and today, July 24th, a.k.a., NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY, is no different.

At Howard Helfant's famous Tequila bar and restaurant, 101 Cantina, a free shot of trequila will be offered to all customers ( age appropriate) today to celebrate this special day in the Spirits calendar.

Please come by and enjoy the vast array of Tequila selections, including Avion, made famous on HBO's Entourage to Patron, and 10 other well known brands,  as well as the many choices of Margaritas, of course including the 101 Cantina House Margarita.

This is going to be another special day in Boca Raton's restaurant annals and all are welcome to come by.

Because it is all Wednesday, Hump Day, all Burritos and Chimichangas are only $ 7.00 making 101 Cantina in Boca Raton the hot place to be tonight and another thumbs up to Howard Helfant for making National Tequila Day such a special day. Royal Palm Place will be hopping tonight for this special day and Howard hopes to see all of his friends and customers there.

Below are some fun facts that Howard Helfant would like to share about Tequila on its special day.


-Tequila is considered Mexico’s national drink
-The drink is made from the blue agave plant, mainly sourced from around the Mexican city of Tequila in the state of Jalisco.
-Mexico’s laws stipulate that Tequila can only be made from blue agave Jalisco, but it can be produced in limited amounts in the states of Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit, and Tamaulipas.
-Tequila is generally between 76 and 80 proof (38 percent to 40 percent alcohol), but there are some varieties with higher alcohol content.
-Tequila was first made by the Spanish in the 1500s near the city of Tequila
-The native Aztecs made an alcoholic beverage from blue agave before the Spanish arrived, but it’s unclear if it was similar to Tequila.
-To be considered Tequila, the spirit has to have at least 51 percent blue agave.
-The most expensive Tequila ever sold was a bottle of Platinum & White Gold Tequila for $225,000.00 in 2006.
-Mexicans generally don’t drink Tequila shots with with limes like in the United States.
