LONDON - July 24, 2013 - PRLog -- After the huge success of LIOG Summit in 2012, the 2013 edition of the summit will be held under the official patronage of the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water and in collaboration with the Petroleum Administration Lebanon. It will take place in the Phoenicia Intercontinental Hotel in Beirut, on 4 and 5 December 2013, promoting investment and business opportunities in the oil and gas service industry and supply chain.

The LIOG Summit 2013 is also supported and endorsed by the International Gas Union (IGU), a worldwide 120-member non-profit organization promoting the progress of the gas industry. Sky News Arabia is confirmed as the Official Television and Zawya and Thomson Reuters have signed up as the Information Partners.

LIOG 2013 will build on the success of last year’s summit which was held in December 2012, attracting over 330 delegates and 35 speakers from 23 countries representing 150 local and international companies and organizations, including major international oil companies (IOCs).

The 2013 Conference programme includes 5 main themes to provide an in depth coverage of the key topics related to the development of Lebanon’s oil and gas potential. This year’s edition will have a strategic emphasis on the oil and gas service industry and supply chain, particularly highlighting the investment opportunities in this promising industry for both local and international investors.

·         Theme 1 will focus on infrastructure and the supply chain in the industry in general.

·         Theme 2 will look at the banking and insurance industry and Lebanon’s ability and willingness to support the oil and gas sector in general and service companies in particular.

·         Theme 3 will run around the legal issues in the service industry particularly in terms of contracts and dispute resolution.

·         Theme 4 will provide a full update on the regional and market developments since last year.

·         Theme 5 will cover the local content and sourcing of skills.

Participants are expected to include, in addition to the bidding exploration and production (E&P) companies, a wide range of service providers; drilling and well servicing contractors, pipeline services and maintenance, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors, banks and insurers, specialized law firms, specialized IT and telecommunications companies, EHS consultants and suppliers; suppliers of work accessories; recruitment agencies, and more.

A large number of internationally renowned speakers will also gather this year to give their insight and support the country’s efforts to develop its resources.

Paul Gilbert, Managing Director of the organising company, Global Events Partners Ltd (GEP), said, “In the coming 2013 edition, we are committed to keeping the highly strategic nature of the event. This year we are planning to go more in depth in approaching the key topics of the summit, preparing the industry for the coming step in its development through creating a platform for involved oil companies and their prospective suppliers to meet and network.”

“We are proud to be the only private event organizing team who is capable of delivering an event in this magnitude in Lebanon,” said Dory Renno, Managing Director of the co- organisers Planners and Partners S.A.L., “We have been able to show that despite what is called instability, if you do things right, the country is a great haven for business and a great attraction for investors.”

“We believe in Lebanon and in its business climate, which makes it a great place for the conferences and exhibitions industry,” said Gilbert. “We also strongly believe that successful conferences like LIOG reflect a positive image about Lebanon as an attractive investment arena.’’

Lebanon has shown growing prospects of having sizable hydrocarbon resources. Last May, the Ministry of Energy and Water successfully launched the country’s first bidding round for 46 previously prequalified companies.
