Newport Folk Festival Playlist

July 24, 2013 - PRLog -- It's hard to believe, but the Newport Folk Festival is only a few days away. Over 40 groups will descend on Newport, Rhode Island starting this Friday for three days of wondrous folk music. The lineup is as solid as ever this year (though it might be a little difficult to top last year's bill that featured groups like Of Monsters and Men, Alabama Shakes, and many more incredible acts). This iteration will feature headliners Beck, The Avett Brothers, Old Crow Medicine Show and Feistalong with a slew of terrific supporting acts.

I'll be up at Newport this year for my first stint covering this festival, and to get you ready I've compiled a playlist with a song from every artist that will be appearing. From the big names like Jim James, Colin Meloy and the Lumineers to upstarts like Lord Huron and Hurray for the Riff Raff to the other terrific groups like Frank Turner and Trombone Shorty, this playlist will give you a terrific idea of what this festival is all about.

We'll have more preview coverage in the next coming days, including my top bands to keep an eye on and my suggested festival schedule for all three days, but for now, enjoy this lengthy playlist. If you can't make it, just close your eyes and imagine yourself lying on the beaches of Newport as each song plays.
