JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. - July 24, 2013 - PRLog -- As haunted attractions gear up preparation for their annual Halloween season runs, a new documentary which was filmed at an Indiana haunt shows some of the unexpected dangers of operating a commercial haunted house.

The recently released haunted house documentary Screamer was in final production when a fire unexpectedly broke out at one of it's chief locations, Psychomania. The fire destroyed the haunted attraction and according to Infinity Vision, many of the production company's own materials.

The film, which follows haunted house owners Phil Granger and Matt Kemp over a five year period, was meant to be an uncensored look at the world of haunted house ownership.  Among the many hurdles the owners faced operating three different haunted attractions at three different times, was a fire which suddenly ended their business.

Psychomania, Theater of Terror, burned on February 28th, 2012 in Clarksville, Indiana, just as the film Screamer was finishing up production.  The film crew scrambled to record the final devastating event which ended the haunt. However, Infinity Vision Motion Pictures still had materials located within the building when the fire broke out.

Clarksville Fire Chief Thomas Upton said the building was declared an unsafe structure after the fire and was bulldozed leaving a gravel lot.  The loss of the theater was catastrophic for the former owners Matt Kemp and Phil Granger, who did not have insurance on the haunted house business.

Infinity Vision recently released the completed haunted house documentary and stated that it had lost over six thousand dollars in the fire.  The completed film also had to be changed mid-production due to the unforeseen event.

"The loss should be a wake call to anyone thinking of entering the haunted industry" said Screamer director William N McHugh, "It is no walk in the park, this event destroyed someone's dream."

Screamer won an award at the Las Vegas International Film Festival and has been steadily attracting fans interested in the inner workings of the haunted house industry.  Director McHugh, who has also been an interview guest on the subject of haunted attractions, said the fan connection to the film was in it's authenticity.

"A real look at the haunted house industry required multiple years of production. Unfortunately as the production continued to grow, it produced a real but unexpected ending."
