Mama Bracelets Supports The Crystal Ball

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - July 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Mama Bracelets has supported several different organizations fighting for many causes. Among the list of diseases they have raised money and awareness for include Autism, Rett Syndrome, SIDS, and Lung Cancer. The one disease they have supported that strikes closest to home is Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) as their youngest daughter (of three children) was diagnosed with SMA Type 2 in August of 2011.

SMA is a progressive, degenerative, neuromuscular disease that is considered terminal.
People with SMA generally fall into one of four categories (Types 1 through 4) with Type 1 being the most severe. Loss of motor neurons over time, due to the lack of a specific protein, causes overall loss of muscle function. Voluntary muscles as well as respiratory and swallowing muscles are affected to varying degrees (based on Type). Currently there are no treatments or a cure for SMA...yet the National Institute of Health (NIH) has named SMA the #1 disease closest to a cure of over 600 diseases.

The owner of Mama Bracelets, Lindsay Casten, has created an exclusive "Cure SMA" product
line which includes bracelets (for women and men), necklaces, and keychains. These products are all handmade using leather and sterling silver; each product is expertly handstamped by Lindsay to her customers’ specifications.

Mama Bracelets affiliated themselves with the U.S. based organization, Families of SMA
(FSMA), and has donated close to $3000 to them in the two and a half years the product line has existed.

In June of 2013 an order was placed for a "Cure SMA" bracelet by a young woman in the U.K. who has SMA. She loved the bracelet and offered Mama Bracelets the opportunity to support a fundraiser being sponsored by the U.K. based organization, The Jennifer Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (JTSMA), which is essentially the U.K. version of FSMA (the U.S. based organization).

With several emails going "across the pond" Mama Bracelets accepted the offer to help support "The Crystal Ball for Aid to Spinal Muscular Atrophy" which will benefit JTSMA.
Mama Bracelets's website (www.mamabracelets.com) has a "donation destination" option for all of their "Cure SMA" products so customers can choose which organization receives the donation (FSMA or JTSMA) generated from sales. In addition, Mama Bracelets will donate two bracelets (an Open Circle Bracelet and an Adjustable Leather Bracelet with a Sterling Silver Plate) for the raffle taking place at the ball. Mama Bracelets will also be taking out ad space in The Crystal Ball Brochure.

The common goal for finding treatments and/or a cure for this devastating disease closes the immense gap between the two countries while bringing people together, spreading awareness, and eliciting hope in the many children and adults (as well as their families and friends) who are afflicted with SMA.
