Oxford-Based Auctioneers Mallams Offer Specialist Sales

OXFORD, U.K. - July 26, 2013 - PRLog -- The antique sales industry is certainly a vibrant one, and Oxfordshire-based auctioneers Mallams are planning a busy few months ahead after announcing a number of interesting sales.

August will see Mallams host a sale of silver and jewellery, and in in September their Abingdon branch will hold the House & Garden sale, an auction focused on paintings, country furniture, and house & garden items.

The team at Mallams have a wide range of expertise, meaning that as auctioneers, they are able to undertake many different types of sales. August's Silver & Jewellery sale will include a whole host of antique and modern pieces, and the Mallams jewellery experts based in Oxford and the Cheltenham saleroom will be hard at work to ensure a successful sale.

Moving forward into Autumn 2013, October will see a Ceramics and Glass sale take place, and November will feature a variety of sales, including the increasingly popular Oriental sale in their Cheltenham branch, alongside a Clocks and Barometers auction and The Gentleman’s Library Sale, which includes a large selection of antiquarian books, in their Oxford branch.

Mallams have a high level of experience with Oriental sales, and their website says the department "has gone from strength to strength as the market for Eastern and Oriental ceramics and works of art have continued to grow over the last few years." As well as using their considerable expertise, Mallams also consult with the very best industry specialists.

The team at Mallams have seen a number of recent successes, with a pair of early 20th Century Louis Vuitton Malle Secretaires making £24,000 in the Abingdon sale room. This significant sale was eventually secured by a telephone bidder. The same weekend in June saw a number of other vintage luggage pieces do well, with a 20th Century Goyard leather bound travelling trunk fetching £3,800. In total, the coinage luggage section made £33,000 before the 20% buyers premium.
