PRLog -- This August Miss Science is bringing the one-of-a-kind SciPreneur program to Orlando kids from neighboring Hillcrest and Lake Como Elementary schools. Campers entering Kindergarten through 6
th grades will have fun, create and give back to their community while attending Camp 4a Cause.
Utilizing the fundamentals of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)
campers will experiment with mixtures and solutions, use the Engineering Design Process to create their “ultimate” lemonade formula, and learn about costs associated with producing and selling their lemonade. Campers will also learn how to create effective advertising and marketing materials while incorporating technology into their business plan.
Camp 4a Cause will be working in conjunction with
Community Food & Outreach founder Scott George as part of their summer outreach programs. The camp will be held at 2113 E. South Street, Orlando and will conclude on Friday, August 9
th with a tradeshow to promote and sell each camper’
s newly developed product. “Not only does Camp 4a Cause teach young children about the connection between STEM and entrepreneurship, but it instills ownership within each camper to create something special and in doing so, they gain a greater sense of self and society,”
says Sherri Smith-Dodgson CEO of Discover Science 4 Kids and Miss Science. “The SciPreneur program we teach makes learning STEM subjects relevant and fun.”
SciPreneur was created in 2010 as a way to get young kids interested in science. Recognizing there was a lack of engagement and relevancy, SciPreneur was developed to bridge the gap between academics and the real world while preparing students for the 21st century.
