With Las Vegas being home to drive-through marriages, many would assume that Sin City alone would provide enough divorces to up the rate for the entire state, and they would be right. Currently Nevada leads the nation in divorce rate according to the latest National Vital Statistics Report and U.S. Census. Rounding out the top five with percentages all over 0.5% include Arkansas, Wyoming, Idaho and West Virginia. California not in the Top 10 While it is important to recognize California for not being in the top 10 for overall divorce rates in the United States, it is also important to consider the factors that might play a role in this statistic. As is the case in the United States in general, overall divorce rates have been steadily decreasing. What most people that initially see this statistic don’t realize, however, is that marriage rates are also on the decline.
