SHREVEPORT, La. - July 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Freda Kelly who served as the Official Beatles Fan Club Secretary and worked for NEMS from 1961-1971 will be the featured guest on The John Lennon Hour on BeatlesARama Radio this Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET. She’ll give an hour interview about her time working with John, Paul, George, Ringo, and Brian Epstein and will speak candidly about some of her memories of those days.

“I was especially touched by her memories of The Beatles’ families,” host Jude Southerland Kessler, author of The John Lennon Series, said. “Freda talks about her children’s close relationship to Ringo’s mother. In fact, she said that her own children referred to Ringo’s mum as ‘Nannie Elsie’…as their adopted grandmother, in a way.”

Freda, whose job it was to manage the tons of Beatles Fan Club letters and requests that came into the NEMS offices, shares her difficulties in filling the fans’ desires and wishes . (“May I have just a part of George’s shirt, pleeeese?” one letter asked.) And Freda talks honestly about her struggle to get the boys to answer their fan mail while writing songs, performing, and appearing on radio and television. She divulges which one of the lads was especially overwhelmed with this task!

Lennon author, Jude Southerland Kessler, asks Freda to talk about her memories of Brian Epstein and of course, of John Lennon, and Freda ever tells a very sweet story that centers on her own autograph book.

“Freda was very kind to tell some stories that come straight from her heart,” Kessler commented.  “She’s honest and genuine. The lady you’ll hear in this interview has not an ounce of pretense.”

The story of Freda Kelly’s time with The Beatles has been made into an award-winning documentary, “Good Ole Freda!” which has had great success and critical acclaim this summer at BONAROO, the Dallas Film Fest, the San Francisco Film Fest, Canada’s Hot Docs Film Fest, and so many more. And the film will be shown at 5 p.m. on Saturday, 10 August at the Fest for Beatles Fans in Chicago at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare.

“The film, ‘Good Ole Freda,’ is included in the price of Saturday’s ticket to the Chicago Fest,” Kessler explains. “And you’ll also get to hear/talk with former Beatle, Chas Newby; see my presentation of the multimedia show “Lennon’s Liverpool,” and take part in the best rock concert of the weekend, featuring the band Liverpool and the ultimate rocker, Mark Hudson! This Fest is going to be one of the strongest and best ever! And this interview with Freda on The John Lennon Hour truly kicks off the celebration. You will be fascinated by what she has to say!”

The John Lennon Hour is a weekly programme on BeatlesARama Radio and will feature The Rock’n’Roll Detective, Jim Berkenstadt, author of The Beatle Who Vanished next week, 28 August.  Beatles historian/author Bruce Spizer will talk about his new digital book, The Beatles Records on Vee-Jay Records on Sunday night, 4 August. Both Berkenstadt and Spizer will be special guests at the Chicago Fest for Beatles Fans as well.
