NEW YORK - July 19, 2013 - PRLog -- The Soho Loft and FundingPost propelled discussions on innovative ways of finding and raising early-stage funding at the Washington DC VC, Angel and Crowdfund Investing Event on July 18, 2013 at Bingham McCutchen in Washington DC.

If you were an entrepreneur, startup or small business with a worthwhile innovative idea which just lacks the right funding and mentoring, then this was the event for you.

The event featured a panel of investors focusing on Early-Stage Venture Investing. There were discussions on the sectors and trends that Angels and VCs are looking for when they consider an investment as well as the latest deal terms and the rise of crowdfunding.

Participants found out what crowdfunding is all about and how a communal force of individuals pool their resources and set up connections to support a wide variety of business ventures – from movies to startup company fundings, to scientific and technical research, and more.

“Crowdfunding and other alternative financial tools have been revolutionizing global financial systems,” says David Drake, Chairman of The Soho Loft. “The relevance of crowdfunding and other new financing models around the world is growing. Stressing this wisdom is the key to business innovation,” Drake adds.

“We have been introducing the concept of crowdfunding and its industry leaders to both entrepreneurs and angels nationwide at our conferences for more than a year now,” says Joe Rubin, Director at FundingPost.

Vincent Marold, Founder of Kaboom Sticks says, “The potential impact of crowdfunding and the other investment models is profound, they will enable startups and small businesses to get the capital they need to grow.”

The speakers for the crowd investing panel were:

1. Bruce H. Lipnick, CEO at Crowd Alliance
2. Benjamin Miller, Founder of Fundrise
3. Victor MacLaughlin, CEO at FundRoom
4. Arthur Espinoza, Jr., Managing Director at The Washington Ballet

The cocktails before and after the panel allowed the participants to have plenty of time to network with the investor panelists. And an optional Pitching Workshop Lunch just right before the event helped entrepreneurs construct quick, short and successful pitches.

Andrew Ray, partner at Bingham McCutchen moderated the VC and angel investors panel. The speakers were:

1. David Horowitz, Partner at Genacast Ventures
2. Katherine O’Neil, Executive Director at JumpStart New Jersey Angel Network
3. John May, Managing Partner at New Vantage Group
4. Sever Totia, Principal at Edison Venture Fund

“I encourage you to join one of our events to learn cutting edge knowledge on what is happening in leadership of capital formation today,” says David Drake.
