Ormond Beach, Fla. – Oscar Ciccone, a seasoned festival organizer and theater director, who is planning a Latin festival in Ormond Beach, is pleased to announce the launch of the festival website - www.festivallatinoormondbeach.com.

The Festival Latino Ormond Beach site, which is offered in both English and Spanish, is designed to inform about festival events and programming.  It gives theater goers the opportunity to view the information about participating companies, synopsis of each play, videos, photos, as well as purchase tickets.

“This program is for all those enthusiasts who enjoy first class performances” said Oscar Ciccone, producer for the event. “We are less than three months away from opening night and we are so excited that there is a buzz about our festival.  We are thrilled that the box office is moving along nicely and we exhort the audience to keep purchasing tickets in advance” added.

Festival Latino Ormond Beach is the first-ever Latin performance festival to take place in Central Florida.  It is set to take stage from September 16th to the 29th at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center (PAC).  Marc Schwartz, the center’s managing director said: “This event will offer a cultural experience unique to the region with talented and prominent professional performers hailing directly from Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, and Puerto Rico.”

Festival Latino Ormond Beach opens its program with Nuevo Tango by Tangokinesis, a modern dance/tango company from Argentina, directed and choreographed by Ana Maria Stekelman.  The next production is from Cuba, with the talented cinema actress Daisy Granados presenting Leyenda, written by Raquel Carrió, and directed by Lilliam Vega.  From Puerto Rico, commemorating Teatro del 60’s Fifty Anniversary comes Madame Rosa, an adaptation of the French novel “The Life before Us” by Romaine Gary, and directed by Miguel Vando. The last theatrical performance is El Quijote, an adaptation directed by Santiago Garcia, and presented by the theater company La Candelaria, from Bogota, Colombia.

Festival Latino Ormond Beach will close on Sunday, September 29th with a concert by Puerto Rican singer/composer Roy Brown and his group.

Before each performance, at the Performing Arts Center lobby, Festival Latino will present Café Cantante, a free musical experience by Cuban jazz artist, and Ormond Beach resident Sara Booth and her trio.  Among other special events, there will be roundtable discussions about the status of theater in Latin America, book presentations, and poetry readings.

Festival Latino is a project born in New York City in 1983, under the direction of Oscar Ciccone and Cecilia Vega, and presented by The New York Shakespeare Festival and renowned late Broadway producer Joseph Papp.  For more than 15 years, Festival Latino in New York was the most important artistic event that promoted international cultural exchange between Latin American and European countries with the United States, and had a significant impact on the city’s Hispanic/Latino community and in the general public as well.

Festival organizers expect this event to draw more than 5,000 people from around the state. Tickets are $20 dollars per performance, available at www.festivallatinoormondbeach.com or at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center box-office (399 North -US Hwy. 1, Ormond Beach, FL 32174; (386) 676-3379). People can also keep up with the event on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/FestivalLatinoOrmondBeach.
