Annual Whatcom County Farm Tour Reaches its 6th Year

A premier event of September's Eat Local month highlighting family-owned farms

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - July 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Sustainable Connections announces details for the 6th annual Whatcom County Farm Tour set for Saturday September 14, 2013. A premier event of September Eat Local Month, the self-guided tour highlights diverse family-owned farms and provides exciting educational activities at each of the 11 tour stops.  Tour goers can mingle with local farmers and learn about growing food, raising animals, making wine, and growing flowers.

Attendees can also enjoy train rides, tastings and samplings, compost demos, spinning & weaving demonstrations, winery tours, and more. Visitors are encouraged to bring cash for farm products, and a cooler to keep purchased foods fresh throughout the day. Tour goers can also bike to the farms, but are asked to keep dogs at home.

The self-guided tour is free, but attendees this year can become a Farm Tour VIP. For a donation of $25 or more, tour goers will receive a Farm Tour VIP bag filled with coupons and freebies available from each of the farm stops, a Sustainable Connections ‘Where the Locals Go’ Coupon Book and more. VIP packages can be purchased on Brown Paper Tickets (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/421326) or on the day of the Farm Tour at any of the stops.

For farm descriptions and a map, pick up the free Farm Tour/Eat Local Month Guide, available starting mid-August at EatLocalFirst.org, in local papers, and at participating restaurants and businesses.
