BUDGET BLINDS, INC. ANNOUNCES UNWAVERING COMMITMENT TO PRODUCT SAFETY AND CHILD SAFETY

Budget Blinds and its Vendor Alliance Manufacturing Partners continue to offer consumers solutions and peace of mind through total compliance with new national standards

ORANGE, CA - (July 17, 2013) Budget Blinds, Inc., (http://www.budgetblinds.com) a division of Home Franchise Concepts, announces its continued commitment to child and product safety.  All products within Budget Blinds’ proprietary Vendor Alliance Program available to consumers in 4,000 markets across the U.S. and Canada either meet or exceed the most recent standards for the American National Standard for Safety of Corded Window Covering Products.  These new standards went into effect June 1, 2013 and Budget Blinds has worked diligently with all its manufacturing partners to ensure compliance with the new safety standards, developed and maintained by the Window Coverings Manufacturers Association (WCMA).

With over 800 franchise locations serving North America, Budget Blinds, Inc. has never been involved in a product safety recall, and is committed that all window coverings within Budget Blinds’ proprietary Vendor Alliance program conform to all safety standards set forth by the Window Coverings Manufacturers Association (WCMA).

Developed and maintained by the WCMA, the new national standard requires:

·       Allowable lead content (maximum of 200 PPM or 0.02%)

·       Cording methods for multiple cord blinds

·       Tension devices on continuous loop cords

·       Warning tags attached to cords when packaged and shipped

·       Stop beads to prevent accessible inner cord loops

·       Manufacturer’s identification and date of manufacture

·       Warning labels affixed to product when packaged and shipped

"The new standard significantly increases the safety requirements for window coverings in a home," said Derick Marsh, Board of Trustees member of the Window Covering Manufacturers Association. "It’s great to see companies like Budget Blinds, Inc. taking the initiative towards ensuring that they have the knowledge and product selection that will comply with all new safety standards."

Budget Blinds, Inc. has no affiliation or association with Edmonton, Canada-based Budget Blinds MFG, Ltd., a company recently involved in a product recall due to issues with child safety.

Recognized as a leader in the franchise industry by organizations such as Entrepreneur, AllBusiness, Inc., Franchise Canada, and Franchise Business Review, Budget Blinds, Inc.'s vendor alliances and product portfolio continue to grow in line with consumer’s home improvement aspirations, positioning Budget Blinds to be the leader in the multi-billion dollar window coverings market.
