ELGIN, Ill. - July 15, 2013 - PRLog -- The first Corvette rolled off the production line on June 30, 1953 — that means the 60th anniversary of the first production model Corvette has just recently passed. Chevrolet is celebrating this event with a 2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition. This model will arrive with the rest of the Corvette Stingray lineup this September. Drivers can find out more about the Stingray Premiere Edition and check out the latest Corvette at Biggers Chevy (http://www.biggerschevy.com/about-us/), located at 1385 E. Chicago St. in Elgin, IL.

When the first-generation C1 Corvette became available to the public back in 1953, only 300 models were made. Each version of the first Corvette was made in Polo White with a sharp red interior. While back then, buyers could get this now-classic American sports car for just $3,498, one was sold at an auction in 2006 for $1.06 million.

The last 60 years have included a lot of changes in the automotive industry, but one thing that has remained constant is the production of the Chevy Corvette — in fact, the Corvette is the longest-running continuously produced passenger car in the entire world. Over that period of time, more than 1.5 million Corvette models have been sold.

The commemorative 2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition will have an extremely limited run of just 500 production models. Each of these models will be presented in the Corvette’s very own Laguna Blue Tintcoat, and will come in the top-of-the-line 3LT trim with a distinctive carbon fiber hood stripe.

The Stingray Premiere Edition will come with the Corvette’s standard 6.2L V8 engine, which puts out a staggering 460 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. It will also come equipped with a specialized Stingray Z51 Performance Package, bringing impressive peak performance with a 0-60-mph time of just 3.8 seconds. In addition, this limited edition model will come with a unique VIN and a bonus five-piece luggage set.

While the 2014 Corvette Stingray Premiere Edition isn’t available in Elgin or the surrounding areas right now, interested drivers can test drive the latest Corvette (http://www.biggerschevy.com/new-inventory/corvette/) at Biggers Chevy. Prices for the 2014 Corvette Stingray will be announced around the time of its release in September.
