Kevin R. Lewis Joins The R2 Associates Team As VP, Programs & Strategic Customer Relations

For the past seven years, Kevin served as Vice President, Aviation Programs for defense contractor, DRS Technologies. He was a key advisor to the CEO and COO for strategic business development and served as the company’
Prior to DRS, Kevin was Director, Air Force Programs for Engineered Support Systems, Inc. (ESSI). In this role, Kevin was responsible for revitalizing the Air Force business development initiatives within ESSI’s Washington office, providing critical customer knowledge to corporate senior leadership.
Earlier in his career, Kevin worked for Sabre Systems, Inc., opening new markets for the company, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. (ATF) In this role, he led numerous teams, managed customer relations, and developed several winning proposals.
Kevin retired from active duty completing a 20-year military career in 2000. During this period, Kevin performed duties in numerous operational and test and evaluation tours in three different wings as a KC-135 Instructor Navigator, including an assignment as the Chief of Flight Safety at the 4950th Test Wing, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. Lt Col Lewis was a squadron and wing level instructor and evaluator and when he retired had logged more than 2600 flight hours. In 1992, Lt Col Lewis joined the C-130 Program Office, first as the C-130H Test Manager and later was tasked as the C-130J Program Manager, where he was responsible for development of the first commercial acquisition strategy to procure a combat aircraft. From 1996 to 2000 Kevin led a hand-picked team of Air Force Acquisition professionals as the Weapons Branch Chief within the Air Force Acquisition Staff at the Pentagon.
