Stuff a Bus with School Supplies

JOPLIN, Mo. - July 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Local Businesses in the Joplin, Missouri area are teaming up with Bright Futures to help gather school supplies for children in the Joplin, Webb City, and Carl Junction School Districts.  Crossroads Chevrolet Cadillac located at 4630 East 32nd in Joplin, Missouri 64804 will host a school bus in front of the dealership until August 10, 2013 when Kix 102.5 FM will do a live direct broadcast from the dealership.  Everyone is encouraged to drop of school supplies which will be disbursed throughout the three school districts by Bright Futures.

Fifty-four percent of students enrolled in Joplin Schools live in poverty, but they all have hopes and dreams.  Crossroads Chevrolet Cadillac feels that each of these students deserves a bright future.  As President John F. Kennedy once said, “Children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.”

Bright Futures helps create important structures around kids allowing them to become successful learners and successful community members.  The organization is actively addressing high school dropout rates and the future of Joplin students.
One high school dropout can have a ripple effect on the entire community through the loss of productive workers and much more.  Dropouts are much more likely than their peers who graduate to be unemployed, underemployed, living in poverty, receiving public assistance, in prison, unhealthy, divorced, and single parents with children who repeat the pattern dropping out of  school themselves.
