US Tele-Medicine Provides Matching Funds for Rural Schools Grants

PALM DESERT, Calif. - July 12, 2013 - PRLog -- US Tele-Medicine, a leader in telehealth services announced today a Matching Funds Program which will provide rural school districts across the USA, an opportunity to obtain a $500,000 Distant Learning and Telehealth Grant, offered by the US Department of Agriculture.

“Grants are often a mainstay for rural school districts across the country as most are short of funds. The difficulty is that very often grants require the school district to provide some percentage of matching monies,” said Jacques von Speyer, CEO of US Tele-Medicine. “That puts a hold on many grant opportunities and that’s why we are announcing our Matching Funds Programs.”

The Distance Learning and Telemedicine (DLT) Program provides both educational and healthcare opportunities in rural communities through grants that finance advanced telecommunications technologies. DLT, which began in 1993, has funded more than 1,400 projects totaling $512 million.

Projects funded by these grants have allowed rural residents to benefit from healthcare services provided to rural clinics and hospitals through broadband infrastructure.
