3rd Annual America’s Fort™ Clambake at Fort Ticonderoga!

ALBANY, N.Y. - July 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Bring your whole family to Fort Ticonderoga for a celebration of America’s Fort™ on July 27 and enjoy a fun afternoon filled with delicious food, family fun, and patriotic music set against the backdrop of the imposing walls of Fort Ticonderoga and the majestic Lake Champlain- Adirondack beauty.

America’s Fort Clambake™ will be held from 3pm-6pm, July 27, followed by a Twilight Fife & Drum Corps Concert at 7pm.  Ongoing entertainment will be featured throughout the Clambake. Tickets are $30 for adults and children 10 yrs and under are $22. Clambake menu offerings include marinated chicken, grilled hamburgers and cheeseburgers, rolls, old fashioned red bliss potato salad, and coleslaw, old fashioned baked beans, corn on the cob, steamed clams with fresh drawn butter, and clam chowder. Desserts and beverages will be included and a cash bar will be available.

“America’s Fort™ Clambake is a wonderful way to taste the tradition at Fort Ticonderoga,” said Beth Hill, Fort Ticonderoga President and CEO. “The Fort’s first Clambake was held on September 2, 1908 and hosted by the Ticonderoga Historical Society to arouse interest in a campaign to have the Federal Government purchase the Fort Ticonderoga Garrison Grounds from the Pell family. It was at this event that the museum founders, Stephen H.P Pell, and later his wife, Sarah Gibbs Thompson Pell, became interested in the Fort’s monumental restoration, America’s earliest restoration of its kind.”  

The Clambake is held the same day as the Fort’s Annual Fife & Drum Corps Muster held throughout the day and features patriotic music performed by fife and drum corps from across the country.  In addition, many Fort Ticonderoga Fife & Drum Corps Alumni will participate in the performances.  The Fort Ticonderoga Fife & Drum Corps is one of America’s first commemorative fife and drum corps formed in 1926 to celebrate the 150th commemoration of the American Revolution.

All event proceeds support Fort Ticonderoga, an independent, non-profit educational organization.
