THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - July 11, 2013 - PRLog -- Newbury Park, Calif.--The second session of the Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park's new summer learning program will take place August 5 through August 23. The program is for kids entering first through sixth grades in the fall.

Classes meet for one hour, twice a week for three weeks.

Students are grouped by grade level: grades one and two, grades three and four and grades five and six. Math and science are covered on Mondays and Wednesdays and reading and writing are taught on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Teachers will also assist with study and test taking skills.

Morning and afternoon class times are available.

"These classes are great refreshers as we near the start of the new school year," says Julie McConville, the Miller Y's youth development director. "These programs give kids confidence as they enter their next grade level. The teacher-student ratio is six to one so students get plenty of individual attention."

All teaches have advanced college degrees or California teaching credentials.

Classes are held at the Y (320 Via Las Brisas). The cost for each three-week session is $175 per subject. Sibling rates are available. For more information, contact Julie McConville at 805-480-0309, ext. 105, jmcconville@millerymca.org.
