Most (81%) are male, and about half the injuries (56%) occur in people who are ages 16 to 30. Less than 1% of people with spinal-cord injuries (SCI) experience full recovery. The Get Out, Enjoy Life event is meant to encourage people who use wheelchairs to pursue a full and active life after their injury or diagnosis. “As a quadriplegic, I understand the role that personal independence combined with community support plays in achieving a full, successful life after spinal-cord injury,” GOEL 2013 Extreme: How To Play From July 15 to July 28, 2013, the S’NS, Wheel:Life and LASCI Facebook groups will share links to each of the featured accessible programs, places, and events, spotlighting one per day on each social media page.
