HAMPSTEAD, Md. - July 8, 2013 - PRLog -- Feathering Your Nest: Creating a Blueprint for Comfort by Cate McCarty provides a framework to better prepare for a family member’s failing memory. Some individuals dread visiting a sick relative because they do not know what to say or bring. Whether sick with a fever, losing words due to memory loss, or depression, often the family member is too ill to request what they need or want. Therein lies the importance of Feathering Your Nest: Creating a Blueprint for Comfort, a sensory reminiscence workbook that can be used long before anyone has health concerns or during a loved one’s decline and final days.

The workbook has many applications whether in beginning a friendship, a love affair, or caregiving journey. The more information one has about another, the easier and more enjoyable the time together will be. The workbook includes worksheets where family members can fill in the pages with their family member’s favorite smells and sights among other things that hopefully can be used at a later time to make the member’s life more comfortable. With the workbook, caregivers and other individuals in charge will know what the person in their care likes the most and having this information will make it easier to care for the individual.

Cate is a native of Maryland who only left to go to University of South Florida for her PhD. Her clinical experience includes over 30 years of creating quality of life for individuals with dementia.
