SHELBY, N.C. - July 9, 2013 - PRLog -- The National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) announced today that O. MAX GARDNER III has received the prestigious Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award, given in recognition of and appreciation for an individual member’s extraordinary contribution and many years of invaluable service to NACBA, was awarded to O. MAX GARDNER III on April 26, 2013 in connection with NACBA’s 21st Annual Convention, held in San Diego, CA. However, Gardner’s health made it impossible for him to travel to California to receive the award. NACBA President Edward Boltz personally delivered the award to Gardner last weekend at Gardner’s inaugural Debt Buyer Litigation seminar (http://maxbankruptcybootcamp.com/training-for-attorneys/litigating-bogus-debt-buyer-claims).

Boltz said: “O. MAX GARDNER III Received the Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his extraordinary contributions and dedication both to NACBA and on behalf of consumer debtors in North Carolina. We are honored to be able to present this award to one of our most distinguished members.”

Mr. Gardner received his/her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1969 and graduated with highest honors from the UNC School of Law in 1974. He was a member of the NC Law Review, President of the Student Bar Foundation and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Mr. Gardner has been named as an NC Super Lawyer multiple times and has been named a member of the NC Legal Elite.  Mr. Gardner’s AVVO Rating is 10.0 and he has an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbel.

For the past several years, Gardner has devoted his career to training consumer attorneys to fight predatory creditors and debt collectors through his Bankruptcy Boot Camps. June 29 marked his first seminar devoted exclusively to fighting dishonest debt buyer practices and the transfer of inaccurate or non-existent collection accounts.

Mr. Gardner has been the attorney of record in numerous landmark cases including Myrtle Marshall vs. Spindale Savings, Marjorie White vs. Duke University Medical School, and the Shelby Yarn Employee litigation. He individually represented the 650 former employees of Shelby Yarn who filed an involuntary Chapter 7 against their employer and subsequently recovered more than $2,200,000 in damages against the former officers, directors and stockholders.
