Pie Contest to be Held Saturday, July 27th

SAND CITY, CA (July 1, 2013) Sweet Elena’s Bakery and Café located at 465 D Olympia Avenue in Sand City using fresh and local ingredients.  Sweet Elena’s is getting blue in honor of National Blueberry Month this July.
Reap the rewards at Sweet Elena’s throughout July:
·         Double punches on slices of blueberry pie the whole month of July

·         Sweet Elena’s is offering blueberry pies, blueberry & carrot muffins and blueberry Danish’s all month long.

·         Blueberries won't ripen once they are picked!
·         They have more antioxidants than most other fruits and vegetables
·         Native to North America
·         They are packed with vitamin C and lots of fiber
·         Native Americans once called them “star berries” because of the points on the top.
In addition, Sweet Elena’s will hold a Blueberry pie contest on Saturday July 27^th from 2:00pm-4:00pm.
·         To enter the pie contest, sign up 72 hours in advance to sweetelenasbakery@gmail.com.
·         Email your first and last name
·         Elena will send you an email confirmation with your arrival time and pie contest details.
·         Once confirmed contestants would bring in 1 homemade blueberry pie and a copy of the recipe.  All pies will be judged by a panel at Sweet Elena’s.
·         The winner will receive 3 free pies at Thanksgiving. The winning pie recipe and photo will be posted on Sweet Elena’s Facebook page and Website.

Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
