PETALUMA, CA-   Looking for a great way to beat the heat and enjoy some great racing? Come to the North Bay this Saturday as the racing will be hot and the temperatures will be mild for the Hoosier Racing Tires California Sprint Car Series.  California's premier series for 360 cubic powered sprint cars will be in action at the famed Petaluma Speedway for the second event in just three days for the tour.

After having just one day to rebuild and regroup, the Winged Warriors of the Civil War Tour will trek toward the cooler California coastal range on Saturday night to compete at the famed 3/8 mile Petaluma Speedway. This track, located on the Sonoma-Marin County Fairgrounds, is known for its dark clay surface that is "hooked" up by the time the 30-lap feature event rolls around and the cool coastal air rolls into the wine country.

After a special event at Placerville Speedway on Thursday that saw former series champion Greg DeCaires of Elk Grove score an emotional victory in the $4000 to win Tiner Classic, its back to business for the traveling series as they face the challenges of the Petaluma Posse for round nine of the campaign.

Entering Saturday's event, former two time champion Sean Becker of Roseville continues to lead the series point standings aboard his Dan MonHoff owned #35 sprint car. After having a touch start to the season, Becker has been a man on a mission as of late. He currently has five top five finishes in the Civil War Sprint Car Series and now sits 11 points ahead of defending seven time series champion, Andy Forsberg of Auburn. Justin Sanders of Prunedale is third in the standing. Sanders is now behind the wheel of the Rudy Warrington owned #18 machine as of round eight in Placerville.

Sitting fourth is Colfax driver Colby Wiesz, Wiesz is 26-points out of the lead over Benecia's Billy Aton who rounds out the top five. Herman Klein of Sacramento is sixth in standings over Sacramento's Billy Butler. Mason Moore of Princeton is eighth followed by Wilton's Matt Peterson and Steven Tiner of Elverta.

Over 30 of California's best teams are expected to converge at Petaluma Speedway for Saturday's rumble. The regular drivers of the Pit Stop USA Sprint Car Series, also known as the Petaluma Posse, are always a great match up when the Winged Warriors of California's top traveling series come to town.

Among the list of locals that will be tough to contend with Saturday night include Aton. Currently 5th in the standings, Aton is a regular at Petaluma Speedway and always a factor between the green and checkered flags.

Former Petaluma champions Bradley Terrell of Sebastopol and Alissa Geving of Penngrove. Terrell won the last Civil War event at Petaluma Speedway back in April and is currently 14th in the standings after making five starts with the tour.

Geving is a former Civil War Series Rookie of the Year and three time Petaluma Speedway track champion. After a year off from competition she has returned to racing at the track she calls home and is sure to be a factor this Saturday. She recently finished second in the Petaluma Speedway weekly feature event last week.

Brett Rollag of Rohnert Park is a likely entry Saturday night as well. The winner of the opening Civil War in Antioch, Rollag has made four starts with the Civil War Series as his schedule allows.

Sebastopol's Geoff Ensign is sure to be on the gas this Saturday night after winning in Petaluma last Saturday night. Also look for regulars such as Jake Haulot, Jason Toft, Art McCarthy, David Lindt III, Shawn Arriaga and more.

The Civil War Sprint Cars will be joined by Dwarf Cars in Saturday's program. The gates at Petaluma Speedway will open at 4 p.m. on Saturday night with qualifying starting at 5 p.m.
