Film, TV and stage actor Nakia Dillard to receive award at 1st Annual Theatrical Arts Award Ceremony

The Philadelphia-based actor will be honored during event on Sun, July 7th at 6pm at The Clef Club on S. Broad Street
 
PHILADELPHIA - July 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Philadelphia-based actor Nakia Dillard will receive an award on behalf of his successful acting career at the 1st Annual Theatrical Arts Award Ceremony. The festivities will be held on Sunday, July 7th at 6 p.m. at The Clef Club located at 736-38 S. Broad Street in Philadelphia.

Dillard is a Philadelphia-based SAG/AFTRA actor, writer and director whose stage career began after his enrollment in the renowned Freedom Theatre. He would go on to enhance his craft at the Hedgerow Theatre, before appearing in film and on TV. His credits include HBO’s The Wire, the films Law Abiding Citizens (with Academy award-winning actor Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler), Night Catches Us (with Anthony Mackie and Kerry Washington) and many more.

A successful entrepreneur, Dillard also owns and operates Aikan Entertainment (pronounced “I Can”), a company that brings entertainment to children through parties and events. An advocate of the proper development of children and teens, he also recently opened an acting school to help younger artists hone their acting skills.

“I try to be the example in myself that I wish of others,” says Dillard. “In that way, I’m doing my part to make things better, not just for me, but for the next generation that is to come.”

The 1st Annual Theatrical Arts Awards ceremony will also honor other local thespians. The event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 7th. Advanced tickets ($15 per ticket) can be purchased by calling 215-869-3509. Tickets will also be available at the door ($20). Doors open at 5 p.m.
