Follow on Google News | Unisys Announces Cloud 20/20 Version 5.0Unisys today announced that registration is open for Cloud 20/20 Version 5.0, the annual technical project contest.
By: K2 Communications The contest requires participants to put theory into practice by working in teams of four, supported by two project guides, to showcase live cloud computing projects. This year’s contest focuses on the real-world challenges of implementing successful cloud computing solutions. Topics for this year include automation for cloud computing; application development for the cloud; security issues in the cloud; consumerization of IT; big data in the cloud; and potential future technologies, open source technologies, and disruptive technologies. Registration for the contest closes on October 2, 2013. Cloud 20/20 Version 5.0 will also include an additional contest for students who are part of the Unisys Innovation Labs (UIL) (http://utfi.co.in/ LNV Samy, Vice President, Technology and Services - India, China, and Australia, Unisys, said, “Cloud computing is changing the face of the IT industry, but still presents numerous challenges. In the last five years of Cloud 20/20, we have witnessed a hotbed of innovation among the talented student engineering community and I have no doubt that this year’s entries will continue to surprise and challenge our judging panel.” Unisys Cloud 20/20 Version 5.0 is open to research students and post-graduates as well as to pre-final and final year engineering students in Computer Science, Information Technology, and other related areas of specialization. The contest will culminate in an event in Bangalore on February 28, 2014, in which five finalists will demonstrate their technical projects to a panel of distinguished judges from the industry and academia. The contest has four stages – submission of abstracts, technical project submission, a preliminary demonstration round, and the final technical demonstration. Contest winners stand to win cash prizes of up to 1.2 lakhs and merit certificates. They will also be given the opportunity to participate in internship projects and explore career options with Unisys. Launched in October 2009, the contest has drawn large and growing participation from universities across India. The number of registrations grew to 5,200 in 2012, from approximately 1,000 prominent colleges across the country.
