-- Los Angeles Wed July 3, 2013 (Hollywood) – Billboard Queen Angelyne has signed a contract with designer Michael Kuluva to be the face of a limited edition t-shirt line for his label Tumbler and Tipsy, pitting her against fellow celebrities Charleze Therone’s endorsement for Dior and Nicole Kidman who launched a similar campaign for Chanel.
Angelyne is due to star in print and runway advertisements for Tumbler and Tipsy starting for Michael Kuluva’s Spring/Summer 2014 Collection, a spokeswoman for Tumbler and Tipsy said Friday.
She could not provide details of the contract, but trade publications quoted Wednesday that industry sources are rumoring the billboard queen has inked a deal with the fashion empire worth between $300,000 - $500,000.
Angelyne rose to fame in the 80’s with her successful iconic billboard run across Los Angeles and those ionic billboards with her image being featured in popular movies and television shows. Angelyne also is credited with recording a new album, her artistic passion plus her savvy entrepreneur skills. Not since Anna Nicole became the face of Guess has a collaboration of such epic proportion been formed.
The former model is the latest celebrity to sign an advertising deal with a major fashion label, a trend which industry watchers say reflects public fascination with the lifestyles of the rich and famous.
Hilary Swank, another Oscar winner, headlines underwear ads for Calvin Klein, while Scarlett Johansson, Diane Kruger and Chloe Sevigny star in Louis Vuitton's campaigns.
