Financial Management Down To A Fine Art At The National Gallery Of Canada Thanks To Altus Dynamics

Canadian based Microsoft ERP & CRM solutions provider Altus Dynamics announced today that the National Gallery of Canada has gone live on time and on budget with their new Altus Dynamics Financial Management Suite, based on Microsoft Dynamics NAV.

TORONTO - July 2, 2013 - PRLog -- In late 2012, the National Gallery of Canada (NGC) began the process to update its existing aging financial management solution. In order to streamline the project it was to be carried out in conjunction with its neighbouring cultural institution, the Canadian Museum of Civilization Corporation (http://www.altusdynamics.com/Press_Releases_2013/Canadian_Museum_of_Civilization_Go_Live.aspx). The goal of the project was to implement a modern, flexible and user friendly accounting system for the Crown Corporation to help support their activities and cultural mission.

“The National Gallery is home to the most important collections of Canadian art in the country, while also showcasing touring exhibitions at its location overlooking the Ottawa River. Being a gallery provides unique challenges, as numerous exhibitions and projects are run throughout the year. Their legacy DOS-based system and processes were struggling to cope with the workload and they realised the need for a modern solution based on the latest and greatest technology.” commented James Faw, CTO at Altus Dynamics. “Our Dynamics NAV (http://www.altusdynamics.com/products/MicrosoftDynamics/DynamicsERP/Microsoft_Dynamics_NAV_2013.aspx) based solution meets their needs for a powerful, flexible and intuitive system which will give them access to the information they need, when they need it, to run the organization far more efficiently” adds Faw (http://www.altusdynamics.com/aboutus/Leadership.aspx).

Utilising Microsoft’s SureStep methodology the project underwent the various phases of analysis, design, development and deployment ensuring the go-live date was attained, with time to spare. This highly sophisticated project involved extensive mapping of the Gallery’s processes and procedures, and reflecting this in Dynamics NAV. The goal was to achieve a modern, flexible, and user friendly accounting system, which is now in place and live. The Gallery expects to reduce processing time, reduce paper usage, and reduce the reporting cycle timeframe. The implementation also afforded the opportunity to review and modernize finance procedures in the organization while moving to a system flexible enough to allow for continuous process improvement.

“As the pre-eminent gallery in all of Canada, the NGC’s cultural contribution to our society is huge. When the opportunity presented itself to be part of helping them continue to grow and improve what they do, it was very exciting for all of us here. The goal was always to provide the users at the NGC with a system that they liked, and therefore would use for years to come. Now that our shared goal has been achieved and they’re live, I feel a real sense of personal pride that Altus’ solutions will help them continue to contribute so much to our society.” comments Altus Dynamics’ CEO, Colin Dickinson.
