Is Hand Writing Still Important in the Modern Day?

A study conducted by the University of Indiana, had one group of children hand writing A, B and C, whilst the other group were using a keyboard to print the letters on the screen. The Children then entered an MRI machine disguised as a space ship and were once again shown the letters. The group who had written the letters were able to remember the letters easier than those who had typed them, furthermore the neural activity from the children who had written the letter resembled that of an adult much more than that of the second group.

It seems that companies who create tablets and smart phones have also become aware of the importance of hand writing as numerous amount of apps have become available that allow you to write using your finger or instrument  on the touch screen, hoping to help encourage the use of hand writing rather than just typing.
