Clear Island films video artist Bill Viola for BBC platform The Space

June 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Clear Island Communications has produced a short film about US video artist Bill Viola’s work for The Space (http://thespace.org/items/e0001p72), the digital arts platform from the Arts Council England and the BBC.  

In the film Viola explains how his latest works touch upon a near-death experience as a child. His water portraits, The Dreamers, show video images of individuals asleep and submerged underwater. The pieces are mounted in a darkened room and accompanied by the gentle sounds of water.

Viola is exhibiting nine works at the Blain Southern gallery in London. The pieces echo themes that are fundamental to him, including our often futile efforts to understand our existence.
