Mazda Reveals the New 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback on Xbox Live

The 2014 Mazda3 will continue with an evolution of the Kodo design language found on the Mazda CX-5 and the Mazda6. Compared to the previous model, the Mazda3 will ride lower to the ground and will be a wider with a longer wheelbase. This will improve ride quality while offering more room to passengers.

Mazda has inserted a new intuitive infotainment system that can interface with smart phones using a Bluetooth connection. With voice controls, the Mazda3 will allow users to search the internet. With upgraded social connectivity, the car will also be able to read and send Facebook and Twitter posts, as well.

Besides the upgraded infotainment function, the 2014 Mazda hatchback will feature a smart safety system. Using a combination of camera, radar, and laser-based devices, the vehicle will offer more protection against crashes. It will include features like blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and a lane departure system. Another new feature is the Smart City Brake Support system. When the car is traveling at low speeds under 19 mph, the car will automatically stop if it senses a collision is about to happen.

In terms of performance, Mazda will offer two engines to start with the possibility of a diesel powertrain later on. The first is a SKYACTIV 2.0L four-cylinder capable of 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. Second option is a higher-powered 2.5L SKYACTIV four-cylinder capable of 184 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque.

Mazda has reduced the weight of the vehicle and added new features like active grille shutters and brake energy recapture system. This should dramatically improve fuel economy in the future model.
