CHICAGO -
June 27, 2013 -
PRLog -- Beyond Sports Foundation (BSF), a needs-based program for high school student-athletes in Chicagoland, hosted nearly 90 golfers, close to 20 celebrities, and over 100 evening guests for its 2
nd Annual Golf Benefit this past June 17 in Riverwoods. The Benefit was a success, raising nearly $15,000 through the day of the event, and donations for the Foundation are continuing to come in. These resources will assist in supporting the college preparatory programs provided for 20 high school student-athletes during the 2013-2014 academic year and continued support for the 18 collegiate student-athletes of BSF. Additionally, the Benefit was able to help increase the awareness of BSF and its mission to support Chicago area, student-athletes. BSF, established by the owner of Executive Fitness Training Sports Performance Center (http://www.eftsportsperformance.com/)
, Elias Karras, has a vision to put athletically gifted students, who face serious personal obstacles, on the path to achieving lifelong success both on and off the playing field.
This year’s golf tournament featured the first ever Celebrity Dunk tank to take place on the course. The player of choice was Chicago’s very own, NFL talent Robert Hughes, celebrity spokesperson for the benefit. Each guest also had the opportunity to meet and interact with both BSF student-athletes as well as
current and retired professional athletes such as Jason McKie,
Anthony Adams, Nathan Vasher, Johnny Knox, Marquice Cole, Sherrick McMannis, Trai Essex, Corbin Bryant, and more!
