PRLog -- As militants opened fire on convey of Army vehicles eight soldiers were killed in the attack and 13 jawans were injured. Paramilitary, CRPF and Police personnel have been moved into position throughout the city and in some areas army conducted foot patrols to avoid any other attacks by militants during the high profile visit. Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh arrived on Tuesday afternoon after the militant strike. After he landed in Sri Nagar immediately he gave a visit to the Base hospital of Army and met the injured soldiers of the Indian army. He addressed a rally previously held in the same day inaugurating a hydel power project in Kishtwar and he paid his tribute to the eight jawans who lost their lives for the country. He told that we should be continuously aware to prevent attacks like the one happened yesterday. He told that terrorist groups will not be permitted to have a success in their criminal activities. Security has been tightened after the attack and the VIP visit made the public in Srinagar struck in huge delay of time. Central intelligence agencies told that the soldiers were unarmed while the attack took place. The terrorist group named Hizbul Mujahideen claimed the whole responsibility for the attack but the intelligence agencies has a strong belief that this incident was planned and executed by Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistan based group.
