SINOYQX Melamine Foam Flexible Electrodes & Organic Chemical Absorption Research Succeeded

CHENGDU, China - June 27, 2013 - PRLog -- SINOYQX, the second largest melamine foam manufacturer and provider after BASF, on June 27, 2013, congratulated Jiangxi Normal University elastic carbon foam via direct carbonization of polymer foam, which used SINOYQX melamine foam, for flexible electrodes and organic chemical absorption research succeeding and publishing on RSC.

Mr. Chen, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from Jiangxi Normal University, who led the research, started in 2012, obtained free melamine foams from SINOYQX. Mr. Chen said melamine foams are the best suitable materials for direct carbonization, thanks for low carbon yield (9%) the precursor melamine foam, which results in the low density of up to 5mg cm^-3 and the ultra-high porosity of over 99% in the final ECFs.

The carbon foam is a three-dimensional (3D) porous carbon material with a interconnected network architecture. It is prepared by the carbonization/ pyrolysis of foamed polymers. Recently, ultrathin and flexible energy storage devices have attracted much attention to meet various design and power needs of modern portable equipment. To build such devices, 3D flexible electrodes are required. Commonly, the commercially available carbon foams derived from polymers, e.g. reticulated vitreous carbon, show brittle characteristics. Mr. Chen and this partners prepared the elastic carbon foam by the direct carbonization of a low density polymer foam, melamine foam. The elastic carbon foam not only could be used for flexible electrodes in super-capacitors, but also as a absorbent to remove waste organic chemicals and oils from water surfaces.
