CHARLOTTE, N.C. - June 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Kym Gordon Moore, author of “Wings of the Wind: A Cornucopia of Poetry” appeared on The Francene Marie Show in Charlotte, North Carolina to discuss fighting illiteracy through the power of poetry. “In this day and time we should not be discussing the alarming illiteracy statistics in the United States, especially with our access to more free educational resources and institutions of higher learning,” says Moore. The thirty-eight minute interview conducted by Francene Marie Morris touched on Moore's inspiration to write, what TheraPoetry is and how it can help people to write about their emotions that would facilitate personal healing during times of need, grief and distress.

Kym Gordon Moore coined her concept of TheraPoetry (therapy or healing through poetry) to help her audience navigate their way to personal healing through the written word. She offers these five steps (whose acronym is “poems”) to begin journeying through therapeutic writing, personal and poetic healing:

1.Perception: Awareness of what is causing downtrodden emotions. Recognize that something or someone is creating the stress or discomfort.

2.Origin: This step is coming to terms with the root of one’s problem. Acknowledge that these feelings of brokenness and depression exist, so that they can be dealt with.

3.Expression: Write down or journal personal and intimate feelings of discomfort, and where these emotions take you. This is the plan of action stage and transformational process where something must change to avoid catapulting into an emotional abyss.

4.Medicinal: This is the treatment stage to weed out and release those things or individuals creating toxic and harmful conditions within one’s spirit. Consider this phase as a prescription and support system toward being cured.

5.Solution: This is the breakthrough and resolution phase. Individuals will garner the courage to write about overcoming whatever was ailing or controlling them in the first place.

TheraPoetry does not replace or acts as a substitute for medical or professional therapy. It performs as a catalyst of awareness, discovery, purpose, navigating through pain and distress, while helping individuals begin the healing process on the road to recovery. “Wings of the Wind: A Cornucopia of Poetry” can be purchased through online outlets such as Barnesandnoble.com, Amazon.com and Outskirtspress.com.
