Ground displays announced for the Wales National Airshow

June 26, 2013 - PRLog -- With less than a month to go and an air display programme featuring the world-famous Red Arrows, the City and County of Swansea has announced the ground activities at the Wales National Airshow on 13 & 14 July to accompany the likes of the full Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the Tornado, Breitling Wingwalkers, Gerald Cooper, the Royal Navy Wildcat and more.

Visitors can get up close and personal with a real Red Arrow Hawk – see what the world famous aerobatic pilots fly during the displays; a Red Arrows and a BBMF simulator – feel like you’re in the driving seat flying the famous planes and a real Glider, plus two Air Training Corps bomber runs, all courtesy of the RAF.

The British Army will be present with a fantastic inflatable assault course, two Specialist Vehicles and a recruiting gazebo – do you think you’re tough enough?

The Royal Navy will be on hand with Royal Marine specialist combat displays, a Fit for Life trailer, recruitment vehicle and more.  The event site will stretch along Swansea Prom and the Recreation Ground with trade stands, refreshments, marquees and recycling stations.  Look out for the My Swansea Marquee where you can get up close and find out more about the services and activities put on by the Council’s Culture, Tourism, Sport and Recreation department.

Plus the Wave and Swansea Sound will be on the ground at the event.

Councillor Nick Bradley, Cabinet Member for Regeneration said,” The 2013 Wales National Airshow promises to be a fantastic weekend for all visitors living in and visiting the city.  With air displays from the most famous planes in the world and ground activities from our Armed Forces, the two day event is a must attend in the Swansea Bay Festival calendar.”  

“Visitors and residents are encouraged to make use of the excellent public transport and Park and Ride facilities to travel to the event.  Temporary cycle racks will be erected for the event and advance parking is also available.”
