Contemporary Christian Music Singing Sensation - Releases Debut Single

VIEUX FORT, Saint Lucia - June 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Lateefah releases her debut single entitled “Here I am” on July 7, 2013 on Lateko Records via iTunes, Amazon and other online stores. “Here I am” can be described as the long-awaited debut single, and for those who has been fortunate enough to witness Lateefah’s live performances both at home and abroad; I hear a big shout of – finally it’s here!!!

“Here I am” is a beautifully crafted song, which is written and composed by Lateefah, and it is performed with the kind of passion and emotion that comes from deep within. “Here I am” has its foundation in the commercial reggae domain, but it is a song fuelled with Gospel, R&B, Blues, Soul and of course tinged with Caribbean sunshine from her Caribbean roots. This first outing from this songstress does not disappoint, as Lateefah delivers an incredibly powerful vocal performance: her voice is a welcomed breath of fresh air.

The singer, who was born in London of St. Lucian and Dominican parentage, nurtured in St. Lucia, studied at the St. Lucia School of Music (SLSM); and later embarked on a course of studies in order to obtain a music degree at the London Centre of Contemporary Music (LCCM). A firm believer in Christ, Lateefah attributes her singing gift to the Creator and on “Here I am” she demonstrates the natural talent that this gifted singer-songwriter obviously possesses.  In the first year of her studies Lateefah made a big impression on her peers with her vocal prowess and instantly became in demand as many third year students employed her on their live performance projects. However a bigger accolade was later bestowed on her as she was chosen to assist none-other than George Clinton of Funkadelic and Parliament fame during the presentation of a vocal workshop. Lateefah is no stranger to the big occasions; as one half of brother and sister gospel rap duo One 2 One, she appeared with gospel artist Carlene Davis and has also worked with PP Arnold, one of Tina Turner’s “Ikettes”, and she performs frequently around London doing her own “soul-based” music and other various genres; most notably she recently putting on a sterling performance at Spirit-Fuelled in Brixton.

“Here I Am” has been receiving tremendous attention on Facebook and Reverbnation where it has been sitting at #1 on the Reverbnation Christian gospel charts for St. Lucia.
