Knoxville, TN Christian Says "The Church Is Not Following God's Agenda."

Desires to bring worldwide attention to this issue, among Christians and non-Christians

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - June 24, 2013 - PRLog -- A Knoxville, Tennessee man, Gene Aptaker, says he wants to bring worldwide attention to the dismal condition of what he calls "the body of Christ, the Church."

He claims that the Church... to a very large degree in our modern-day world... does not align with God's original purposes and intentions for His people. He even goes as far as to say, "The Church, as we know it, is light years removed from what God truly intends."

You may take a look, if you wish, at a video he has put up on YouTube and on a site he has put up:

When asked what the Church is supposed to look like, Mr. Aptaker responded:

"God created the body of Christ... the Church... for two main purposes.  The first purpose is that the Church would be a people who are fully committed to the Lord's plans and agenda, and the accomplishment of those plans.

"The second purpose is that the body of Christ would be the actual vessel containing the very life and nature of Jesus... and express that life and nature to the world around them. When people look upon Christians, they should be looking upon the Lord, Jesus Himself.

"The Church we see today is mostly nothing more than a religious institution, where people come and do certain things... at certain times, and the people don't look very different than their non-Christian neighbors.

"The early Church, after the resurrection of Christ, was overflowing with life and power, and they turned their world upside down, in spite of terrible opposition, persecution and even being killed off in massive numbers.

"There are even some churches in the world today who operate in this kind of dynamic, but they are few and far between, mostly in the third world. In the western world, it's almost non-existent, regardless of what the televangelists may tell you."

Mr. Aptaker also wanted to convey his deep regrets over the fact that the world of non-Christians gets such a distorted view of the Church.  Asked to expound on this subject, he said:

"Much of the unbelieving world looks at Christians as phonies and hypocrites.  According to unbelievers, Christians claim to serve a loving, powerful God, but the Christians, themselves, appear so unloving.  And if they serve such a powerful God, why are Christians so bland and ineffective in the world? Christians are not seen as having a strong, compelling message or life, and this is quite true.  We Christians have largely lost the genuine message and life."

Mr. Aptaker has put up a website recently, at http://whatischurch.org/, and he asks that all Christians who have a heart to know, serve and follow the Lord visit and see what he has to say.  He also wants people who are not believers to come as well, and perhaps learn about God's true intentions and purposes for the Church.

He says, "There has been so much damage done... and so much misunderstanding created... by religious Church-goers, many of whom don't even have a relationship with God.  I hope to help, in some small way, with these misconceptions, and open a door for unbelievers to take another look.
