Encore Raise over £5000 for Charity

LEICESTER, U.K. - June 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Encore raise over £5000 for Charity

Encore Personnel recently completed the 24 hour 3 Peak Challenge, raising over £5000 in the process for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Breast Cancer UK. Encore Directors Chris Hockey and Ian Briers took part along with four other determined staff members.

The challenging event involves walking the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. These peaks are Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, completed in that order. The team started at 4am, finishing the challenge very tired, aching but ecstatic at 3.05am.

This challenge was dedicated to both Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and Breast Cancer UK, Encore Personnel’s two chosen charities for 2013. These charities were chosen by two members of the team, GOSH by Glynne Dyer who’s son Jack suffers from a very rare growth condition called Laron Syndrom and was treated at GOSH. Jamie Lawrence, another member of the team, has had two family members suffer with Breast Cancer who have thankfully won their battle and come out the other side.

Director Chris Hockey, who completed the challenge, commented, ‘As a company we believe in giving something back and we have set ourselves a number of challenges in 2013 with the aim of raising a minimum of £10,000.

‘The team did a great job to finish this challenge within the time and raising over £5000 is a great start. There were some very tired bodies at the end, as well as a fair few blisters!’
