ROME - June 23, 2013 - PRLog -- For a city as big and as busy as Rome, one simply can’t go there without any plans on what sites to visit and how to go on about it. There’s a lifetime worth of sites, ruins, museums and other places to explore and unless you will stay in this big, old city for a couple of months at the least, you can’t go through every nook and cranny.

The last thing you want to happen is to get all stressed out deciding on what to do or where to go first. Or worst, you don’t want to get dizzy spinning around the city, staying on each site for a mere five minutes before jumping to the next in an attempt to get a glimpse of everything. So when you are on a tight schedule or on a limited day trip to Rome, it is a must for you to have a Rome itinerary.

Now, you might be asking yourself: where do you begin? Here’s our step-by-step tips on how to make the most out of your trip to Rome. And of course take our newly released free ebook http://www.romesightseeing.net/e-book-rome-in-a-weekend along on your trip.

Make a theme for your trip.
Ask yourself: What interests me most?

You have to determine what you think you will enjoy most if you visit to Rome. If you’re a history buff, then your trip must include a visit to the ruins of Old Rome, famous museums, some old churches and the like. If you enjoy a food, then your Rome tour should include trying out the best of Italian cuisine like pastas and gelatos. If you’re an exercise junkie, you can opt to tour Rome by walking, by bicycles or through a segway. There’s even an option to tour Rome ala Dan Brown’s novels. The choice is yours.

Rank the sites you want to see.
Ask yourself: Which sites do I want to see the most? the least?

Make a list of all the sites you want to see, basing on the theme that you have decided. Next, rank all the sites according to which you want to visit most and least. Lastly, put a limit on the number of places to visit. Consider factors such as time, finances and overall convenience. For instance, if you’re travelling for only three days, then you can limit yourself to only 15 sites or less (five per day).

Book your accommodations.
Ask yourself: What kind of place do I want to stay in?

It’s important to book your accommodations after deciding which sites you want to see in Rome. Simply because you would want to stay somewhere near the sites you chose. Another thing to consider is your preference. Maybe you’d like to stay in posh hotel with lots of amenities like a grand pool and restaurant. Or maybe you’d just prefer to stay at a low-cost place where you can simply sleep comfortably and leave your stuff safely while you spend most of your time outside.

Get a travel guide. Do a lot of reading.
Ask yourself: How can I travel Rome like a local?

Prepare to travel Rome like a local and the best way to do it is get a travel guide. Travel guides are really helpful since it gives you tips on how to get the best out of your Rome trip. Learn what bus to take, what station to get off to, where to order the best gelatos or pizzas, etc.
