June 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Rising fashion designer and recent graduate of Honolulu Community College's fashion degree program Kitri Rowland is confirmed to present a runway show of her recent swimwear collection at Honolulu Fashion Weekend on Friday, June 28th, 2013 at 6 PM. Kitri Rowland, recent graduate of Honolulu Community College’s Fashion Technology program, was born and raised on the lovely island of Oahu, Hawaii. At an early age her love of art and nature was apparent and it has blossomed into a lifetime mission to connect and share the two through design. Whether designing swimwear or a wedding dress, Kitri draws inspiration from the infinite beauty of her surroundings and the colorful souls that flavor her life.

Honolulu Fashion Weekend, Hawaii's first ever fashion series, kicks off June 27th, 2013 with three days of fashion aloha, featuring over 15 local fashion designers. Live performances from popular Hawaii-based musicians, artists, and dancers will allow for a intricately festive event, paying homage to the colorful arts community of Honolulu. Honolulu Fashion Weekend will benefit arts education for at-risk Hawaii youth via the pioneering efforts of Afterschool ART Hawaii (www.AfterschoolARTHawaii.org). Full roster of designers, performers, and guest speakers will be announced shortly.

Afterschool ART was founded by Dr. Bob Grossmann in 2004, after having the opportunity to be briefed by staff from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other public health agencies, when he served as a Fellow for then Secretary of Health, Donna Shalala (1995-1996). He has found that youth respond to programs that bring quality art supplies and professional artists to where the youth-at-risk live and learn.

Honolulu Fashion Weekend will be hosted at The FIX Sports Lounge and Nightclub, a hot-spot recognized by the community for it's commitment to Hawaii's artists. The FIX Sports Lounge and Nightclub proudly represents the miraculous and multi-faceted renaissance happening in downtown Honolulu right now. The FIX Sports Lounge and Nightclub is located at 80 South Pauahi Street, Honolulu, HI 96813. During each of the three days of the event, Honolulu Fashion Weekend begins at 6 PM and early arrival is suggested. Guests may RSVP for this event by e-mailing FashionRSVP@LawrenceBlake.com. Press may RSVP by e-mailing HonoluluPress@LawrenceBlake.com. A portion of ticket sales will directly benefit local programs through Afterschool ART Hawaii.
