June 20, 2012 - Verbena, AL - Tears of Crimson Publishing, an independent publisher responsible for other such best-selling novels as A Night at Tears of Crimson and 10 Nights, announced today that their latest book, "Sin" has reached bestseller status on Amazon.com. Featuring Michelle Hughes, "Sin" takes readers into the fictional life of club owner Sin and follows the journey of a college student Anya as she is tutored in the art of erotic dancing.
Five days after release, Sin managed to claim the number 20 ranking out of all books sold on Amazon for New Adult Romance. The book was featured on Hot New Releases and also lifted Michelle Hughes into the rankings of 74th most read Contemporary Romance Author. Sin also took the number 22 spot for coming of age literature.
"This has been an amazing journey," Hughes explained. “Sin was a book I wrote just to entertain myself, and I never expected this much interest." Hughes is a stay at home mom who was contemplating going back into the work force at the end of summer. She was laid off in the 2008 from a job in respiratory therapy when her hospital needed to make cuts. Remaining at home had been a mutual decision between her and her spouse until their youngest child was of school age. Hughes states she is reconsidering that option due to the overwhelming response to her latest title.
The new adult category of romance concentrates on college aged characters, and is becoming a very popular classification. The subject matter can vary from sweet coming of age stories to books like Sin, which focus on the steamier side of sexuality. Unlike young adult, authors who write under this genre have flexibility to include language and sexual tension that would be taboo for a crowd under the age of eighteen. These books are targeted to readers of a college level.
"Sin" invites readers to step into the world of erotic dancing and explore the dynamics of a relationship between a dominant alpha male and a younger woman who is just discovering her sexuality. The language is course, and the scenes of passion hold nothing back. Anya, the 21-year old main character is tutored in pole dancing and other sensual ways to entice the male customer. Sin, the club owner, was a former male review dancer and sees Anya as nothing more than an increased payout for his business. The relationship is gritty and there is no sugar-coating in the dialogue in this first person, stand-alone book.
